At this time, my country, the United States of America, is going through a right-wing takeover coup showing many elements of fascism. The perpetrators of this coup have been carefully planning this for much longer than most of us think, and now it is in full swing. One of the most alarming aspects of this cultural shift is the rapid rise of disinformation in spiritual communities.
One of the greatest successes of the new rulers has been to convince huge numbers of Americans that this coup is a much-needed, good thing! They’ve been able to accomplish this due to (at least) three main reasons:
1. Legitimate Grievances and Systemic Flaws
Most Americans have deep, legitimate grievances about corruption, waste, and elitism on the part of our government. Systemic change is undoubtedly needed. The perpetrator’s messages are empowered by the seeds of truth within them, making the narrative highly convincing to those looking for systemic reform.
2. The Sophistication of Modern Disinformation Campaigns
The perpetrators have used the most sophisticated, well-orchestrated barrage of disinformation in human history to deceive massive numbers of people. They’ve drawn heavily on the playbooks of Nazi Germany, Russia, Hungary, and many other totalitarian governments, supercharging these historical tactics with cutting-edge AI technologies.
3. Ruthless Power Dynamics vs. Liberal Factions
They are much more comfortable amassing and using power ruthlessly than those on the more liberal, progressive side. While Democrats and Liberals have split into conflicted factions while grappling with ways to deal with difficult social and political issues—and corruption within their own party—the right-wingers have managed to unify their ranks through one-pointed power-seeking and the intimidation of dissenters.
What Are Lightworkers?
The people I’m most interested in writing about in this post are those in the spiritual and metaphysical communities throughout the USA. I’ll use the term “Lightworkers” to refer to this group.
Lightworkers are people drawn to spirituality, meditation, and personal healing. They tend to naturally question the narratives of mainstream media and culture, seeking sources of higher truth and inspiration. Lightworkers tend to be sensitive, open-hearted (or actively working on being so), intelligent, and out-of-the-box people. A high percentage of us serve as therapists, teachers, healers, healthcare practitioners, or coaches. That’s simply because we are deeply drawn to help others.
I consider myself to be a Lightworker, as I serve as a spiritual teacher and mentor, and have practiced meditation for most of my life. I know many people in spiritual communities throughout this country. I have taken part in countless meetings, meditation groups, and community circles, and I’ve led programs and retreats for physicians, healers, and spiritual practitioners.
The Core Conflict: Induced Polarization
What has been truly shocking to me is how many Lightworkers now support the agenda of Trump and his team. It is shocking because his values of ruthless power and money-seeking at the expense of others, incessant lying, degradation of women, and total disregard for our natural environment would appear to be diametrically opposed to the values of almost all Lightworkers I know.
Yet, so many of them have become convinced that all that is unimportant or justified in the pursuit of destroying the alleged rot of the “deep state.” It is precisely this kind of thinking that induced millions of decent Germans to support Hitler’s Nazi Party and other totalitarian regimes throughout the world.
So how did so many Lightworkers get pulled into this rabbit hole?
I don’t think it is so much about disgust with government corruption and waste, since most Lightworkers I’ve known tend to be less interested in traditional politics and economics. I believe it is due to a campaign of disinformation carefully orchestrated to target the Lightworker communities. Spiritually and metaphysically-oriented people tend to have specific vulnerabilities that misinformation perpetrators have been able to tap into. Here is what I understand those vulnerabilities to be.
The Role of Alternative Media in Shaping Lightworkers’ Views
Most Lightworkers question or reject mainstream media, believing them to be rife with falsehoods and censorship. I believe there is some truth in that, especially regarding censorship and the slanting of information in the areas of COVID and US foreign wars. Yet, there is also great value in mainstream media for those with discernment.
Before the time of Trump’s presidencies, most Lightworkers I knew tended toward liberal, humanistic values. Yet in recent years, more and more have been drawn to follow alternative media due to the influence of their friends and associates. Alternative media, or Alt-media for short, refers to media outlets other than the mainstream news outlets used by most people.
Alt-media serves useful functions, as they address important issues ignored or discounted by mainstream media, which has historically marginalized certain topics and information as “conspiracy.” That has led to the rejection of some vital truths and exposés by society at large. Many Lightworkers are drawn to alt-media because it has pointed out real cover-ups and abuses by Biden and the Democratic party that need to be brought into the light.
The darker side of alt-media, however, is that they tend to mix valuable information and exposés with extensive disinformation from unverified sources. They generally espouse right-wing, pro-Trump values, actively suppressing or minimizing its dark side and the high toll it takes in increased human suffering.
The Lightworkers I know who support this agenda don’t appear to be practicing enough critical thinking to question what they’re hearing on alt-media. They appear to accept the whole package of what it is presenting, and repeat what they hear to others as absolute truth. This appears to stem from a lack of discernment in discriminating between the valuable information offered by the media and the manipulative hype.
I believe Lightworkers derive some degree of stress release and emotional validation from reading alt-media. It could be comforting to find what appear to be clear answers to the difficult issues of modern life through these channels, and sharing about these revelations with others who agree with each other. This has resulted in a process of insular reality construction which braces itself against views from outside of its own group-think.
Guidance from the Spirit World: Discernment vs. Deception
Lots of Lightworkers believe there are enlightened, non-physical spiritual beings like angels and ascended masters working to help the human race navigate these difficult times, and that these beings often communicate through people called spiritual channelers.
People acting as channelers put their own personal thoughts aside and claim to be able to hear and speak the messages of these allegedly higher consciousness spiritual beings. Such information is highly esteemed in Lightworker communities, as it appears to be coming from a wiser and more informed source than the human mind or traditional media. Therefore, a high degree of trust is often put into these channeled messages.
I personally experience that channeling is real and can have profound value. As multi-dimensional beings, our conscious, rational minds are only one part of the consciousness we can tap into. Enlightened masters, shamans, and mediums have been sharing high-level messages throughout human history, and some of it has been deeply valuable and inspiring. I believe the spirits of Jesus, Quan Yin, Buddha, and many other masters do often uplift and inform the people and institutions dedicated to their teachings. Yet, as we know all too well, tremendous abuses have been done in the name of Jesus and other masters.
Discernment is urgently needed, and in my opinion, is often lacking among Lightworkers today! I have listened to many well-known channelers esteemed in spiritual communities. What I hear are high-sounding prophecies and messages about extra-terrestrial beings coming to help save our planet, and that these beings are actively choosing to work with and through Donald Trump!
Some elements of alt-media and spiritual channelers have elevated Trump into a savior figure. While most of them admit that he is a potty-mouth, lying, misogynist man, they claim that he is being “used” by God anyway to root the evil out of our country.
In summary, two major vulnerabilities of Lightworkers are an exclusive focus on alt-media and putting far too much faith in right-wing leaning channeled messages. These vulnerabilities have been exploited to induce huge numbers of them to turn away from their basic sense of right and wrong and tacitly support a fascist takeover of the USA.
Exploring the Consciousness Field: How Else Have Lightworkers Been Influenced?
This is a big, important question. I’ll share what I believe about it, and I truly welcome your insights.
I believe Lightworkers are being directly influenced through the consciousness field we all share. This is a super-conscious field the entire human race is tapping into. You could call it your God connection. Neuroscience researchers Penrose and Hameroff have proposed that tiny structures in the human brain called microtubules may be a way we link to super-conscious states beyond our individual minds.
At this time of Ascension of consciousness on our planet, we are much more easily tapped into this shared field of consciousness than before. When your heart is open, you can sense pure love, divinity, and divine power within this field.
The ascending consciousness on Earth may kick up repressed psychological patterns and fears from our shadow selves to the surface—and it currently is. It can be super-intense as old patterns of pain and trauma are coming up into our conscious minds and bodies. It can hurt a lot and bring profound fear. Disinformation is carefully designed to appeal to people going through the insecurity of these experiences, seeming to promise truth, clarity, and validation from others.
My advice: Reject disinformation that fascinates your mind, yet puts you more out of touch with your heart. That’s exactly what it is designed to do.
I believe that, in addition to external disinformation, polarizing, fear-triggering messages are being broadcast directly through the consciousness field of the human race. I can’t say exactly how this is being done. Many people believe that technologies such as HAARP, which generates a pervading low vibrational energy field, may have been used to try to influence people’s minds. However this influence is being disseminated, the purpose is to motivate Lightworkers to become more open to these disinformation campaigns. Many of the “channelers” Lightworkers follow also appear to be tuning into questionable sources of information, convincing many to follow a divisive agenda.
Why Target Lightworkers and Healers?
It seems to me that elaborate efforts have been made by perpetrators of disinformation to target Lightworkers, thereby dividing our communities. These perpetrators are part of the very real conspiracy to squash American democracy by installing a new right-wing government free of checks and balances.
The effectiveness of this program was personalized for me once again recently. I led a very well-received Quantum healing workshop in western Pennsylvania in 2023. Recently, I reached out to the local organizers to see about offering a follow-up event. I was told that the local community of healers is now so fractured by the political divide that it would not be possible to bring them together this year for any more healing events.
It is incredibly ironic—the very kind of activities that could help heal the polarized divide are no longer possible in that community.
Why would the disinformation originators even bother putting so much energy toward Lightworkers? I believe it’s because we have a great power for good when we are united. People dedicated to raising their consciousness, joining together in community, and taking positive action is very powerful. We’ve seen it in the civil rights movement, women’s suffrage, and the movement to protect our environment.
I’m also aware of the power of Lightworkers focused together to help mitigate natural disasters such as wildfires and extreme weather events. As an example, the Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) temple in Pacific Palisades, California, was untouched by the disastrous fires in that area in January 2025, even though most other nearby churches and synagogues were incinerated. It just happened that thousands of devoted people all over the world were intensely praying and visualizing protection for the SRF temple. I can believe that helped make the fire miraculously stop at the property boundaries on all sides.
By creating division in the Lightworker communities, such massive mobilization of positive healing energy has been reduced from what it could be. This has successfully removed a major possible impediment to the perpetrators.
Questions for Discussion on the Spiritual Divide
This article brings up more questions than it answers, such as:
- How are so many intelligent, spiritually aware people susceptible to being influenced to support leaders who seem to violate their most cherished values?
- Why have so many of the people allegedly channeling high-level information jumped on this political bandwagon?
- Who could be so sophisticated as to pull off a campaign of influencing Lightworkers and their sources of information?
- What could be done to bring greater unity of purpose back to our spiritual communities?
